About Animal Advocates of Northwest Florida and Our Commitment to Advocating for Animals in Okaloosa County, FL

Purpose and Activities

To promote the welfare and well-being of animals. The mission is broadly defined to include any and all measures necessary to reduce and ultimately eradicate the abandonment, suffering, homelessness, and neglect of domesticated animals (primarily, but not exclusively, cats and dogs). Animal Advocates will not be limited in the scope of services it will provide.  This will include a proactive effort to locate and reduce the number of stray cats and dogs in the community. To assist and support directly or promote through grants, animal organizations who engage in this endeavor and assist the community by providing low-cost spay and neuter options. To provide medical care for those in extreme need and to foster and socialize animals so that they may be placed for adoption.  These activities will be carried out by the Trustees and the organization’s unpaid volunteers. The activities will be funded by the Trustees, the public, other charitable organizations, and limited fundraising activities.

Our efforts will be primarily directed to fill the many needs NOT being presently met by other animal welfare organizations that intentionally limit their scope (particularly dealing with stray animals). These activities will be primarily in the Florida Panhandle area. The activities further our exempt purposes by caring for the well-being of abandoned and abused animals.

The activity will also include the protection and care of wildlife when the growth of the organization allows.
